The hotel's interiors are mostly based on the Willard Hotel in Washington DC, and the exterior is Hotel del Salto, now the Tequendama Falls Museum, in Bogota, Colombia. The Hotel was supposedly rumored to be haunted, after multiple people took their lives in the falls.
This site's "story" shares DNA with The Haunted Mansion, The Shining, and 10-minute game demos of my childhood.
